¿What are dental implants?
They are artificial titanium roots that go in the patient’s maxillary bone to offer support for the new permanent teeth. Implanted teeth have a more natural aspect and a faster and smoother healing process.
¿Why would I need dental implants?
When you are missing one, multiple or all of your teeth.
¿How is the procedure? Does it hurt?
They are placed through surgical intervention with local anesthesia (in some cases, completed with sedation), completely painless. Post op usually has good outcomes. Thanks to modern microsurgical techniques, minimally invasive, is very unusual the occurrence of complications, pain, inflammation or hematomas. In some advanced surgery cases with several dental implants, post op complication occurrence is higher.
¿What’s the success rate?
Very high. We have achieved an implant osseointegration success rate of 98.5%, working in 3D and with a secure surgical environment. In the majority of the cases that don't obtain a good outcome (1.5%), the implant can be placed again after some time. It doesn’t mean there’s a rejection, just a lack of stability between the bone and the implant.
¿How much time should I wait between the implants placement and the dental implants?
It depends on the kind of bone it was placed. The estimated waiting period could be of two months or the same day, if the bone quality is optimal.
¿Is there an age limit for dental implants?
Not at all. Precisely, older adults get the most benefits from dental implants.
¿What’s the duration of the implant?
With the proper care, they could last up to 20 years.
¿What does “immediate dental charge” mean?
That in some cases when is necessary, to improve the patient’s comfort, we could remove the teeth in bad shape, place implants and permanent teeth within 24 hours. This is possible only if the jaw bone condition and implant stability allow it.
¿What’s the difference between a single tooth substitution, multiple and complete teeth substitution?
Single tooth substitution: the implant is placed where the previous tooth root was, this allows us to replace it as if it was your own.
Multiple teeth substitution: will need several dental implants. Usually the amount of implants is the same as the number of missing teeth
¿What if the height and thickness of my maxillary bone are too reduced?
There’s a solution. Bone regeneration techniques can be used through bone grafts and bioengineering methods, highly trusted and not very aggressive. This allows people destined to live with a bad retention denture, to enjoy them as if they were their own, stable and comfortable teeth.
